Verizon Wireless Officially Announces Galaxy Nexus!

While newly-announced HTC EVO Design 4G is gearing up to hit Sprint shelves, there’s one more smartphone that has been gaining a lot of attention. The talk is about Galaxy Nexus by Samsung. World’s first smartphone running on Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” OS, Galaxy Nexus will be available later this year in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at www.verizonwireless.com.

Samsung USA has also put up a sign up page for this Samsung smartphone where customers can register for latest updates. When signing up customers will be prompted to choose which carrier would they like to get up-coming smartphone from. Along with Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Cellular South, Metro PCS, T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular are listed in sign up form. Users can expect fast download speeds of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps in 4G LTE mobile broadband coverage areas.

With latest Ice Cream Sandwich, Galaxy Nexus allows users to enjoy innovative features like Face Unlock which uses facial recognition to unlock the Galaxy Nexus and People app for browsing friends, see their photos in high-resolution, and check their latest status updates from social networks. Galaxy Nexus offers easy access to more than 300,000 apps and games available at Android Market. It offers support for Google mobile services including Gmail, Google Maps 5.0 with 3D maps, Google Earth, Movie Studio, YouTube, syncing with Google Calendar, and redesigned Google+ app.
